This is very easy to do first log into your cubecart admin area then do the following.

1. Click the "View categories" link on the left of the page
2. At the top right of the page click the "add new" link
3. In the category name field enter the name of your category. We reccomend you do not make this too long as it can make the navigation on your site look messy.
4. If you have the category description modification installed type a description for your category in the category description box. If you do not have the category description mod skip to step 5.
5. Select the category level "Top level" means just that it will appear in your site navigation as a top level category.
6.  For the Upload new image option we suggest you don't by default cubcart creates neat little folders for the categories and sub cats, adding images for your category just increases the scrolling for the user.
7. Click Add

Adding A Sub Categegory

Repeat steps 1 to 3 above. When you get to step 4. select to put the new catgory underneath an existing category. For example you may have a main category of "Widgets" and want to split that into green widgets and blue widgets. In this case create your green widgets category and instead of selecting "top level" in the drop down box select "widgets" this will place your new category "green widgets" underneath "widgets" on the main site.

Note: If you use the SEO mod you will also need to enter the info for the category as follows

Browser Title: This should be your category EG: Green widgets from widgets.com

Meta Description: Something like Below are our selection of top quality green widgets. The meta description is the short paragraph that would appear under the link in Google

Keywords: Four or five keywords or phrases that describe your category.
