Before product options can be assigned to a product they first need to be created here is a step by step guide to create your product options.

1. Log in to your cubecart admin area.
   
   
2. in the left navigation menu click product options.
   
   
3. Now in the first box we have to specify the main name of the product option EG Color, Size, Flavor what ever the option you want to have, so just enter the main name for the product option for this example we will use color. So you would enter the word color, leave type set to default and click the add option button.
   
   
4. Now you will see two boxes, the top box with the main product option heading and a box below that for attributes.
   
   
5. So now we need to add some attributes to the "color option" so lets type "Red" in to the option attribute box and click add.
   
   
6. Now type Blue and click add attribute then type green and click add attribute.
   
   
7. Now as you can see we have three different options for the color of our products. You can add or delete colors any time you like from this section.
   
   
8. The third box that now appears on your screen is where you can assign product options to your products. Simply select the product you want to assign options to, choose the main option in this case color, chose the color option you want to add eg red.
   
   
9. You will now come to an option price box if a red widget costs more or less than a plain widget you can add or subtract from the price of the product using the price function. So if we entered  2.50 in this box and chose the + option from the drop down this would make cubecart add 2.50 to the product price if the user chooses red when they add to the cart. Na would be used if there is no price change for different colors.

You can add as many product options as you wish this way. You can have Size, Color, Flavor what ever you want. Just remember first you need to set the main option name, then the various attributes for the option. Then assign each option and attribute to your products.

If you find adding product options tiresome there is a modification availale for cubecart 4 which allows you to add product options much faster. For example once you have added small widget to your site with all its color options, you can tell cubecart to add the same color choices to all widgets, rather than doing them individually. The cost of this modification is £25 installed please open a support ticket if you would like this adding to your site.
