Backing Up Your Databases
|
This applies to any client who runs a php script that uses databases. For example a mailing list, a shopping cart, a links directory.
To back Up your mysql databases do the following.
Log into your cpanel here http://www.yoursite.com/cpanel
Under "Site Management" click "Backup"
Now you will see a sub heading "Download a MySQL Database Backup" this
will list all the databases you are running. You should click these
individually (Blueish text) and save each one to your pc.
You will need backups of your databases in the event of any server
crash, so you should do this REGULARLY especially if you have an
ecommerce store with lots of orders or product changes.
If your site uses a link script, a shopping cart or any other
program that uses a mysql database that database carries ALL the
information that program needs to run if you dont have it your cart or
link section could be completely lost.
